In my e-mail of 8 November 2005, I advised that the proposed Monash University Enterprise Agreement (Trades and Services Staff \u2013 Building and Metal Trades Staff and Grounds and Gardening Staff) 2005 and the proposed Monash University Enterprise Agreement (Trades and Services Staff \u2013 Catering and Retail, Cleaning and Caretaking, and Miscellaneous Services Staff) 2005 were planned to be submitted to a ballot of trades and services staff on 23 November 2005.<\/p>\n

For the purposes of ensuring that trades and services staff all had sufficient access to the proposed agreements prior to any vote, the ballot is now to be conducted on Thursday 24 November 2005.\u00a0 All full-time, part-time, seasonal and casual trades and services staff covered by the proposed agreements and employed by the university\u00a0\u00a0 on the day of the ballot are eligible to vote.<\/p>\n

Staff members at work will be allowed paid time to participate in a ballot on the Clayton, Peninsula and Gippsland campuses via a show-of-hands vote.\u00a0 Below are the details of each ballot time and venue.\u00a0 Note that staff are only eligible to vote once only for the particular Agreement covering their employment.\u00a0 Accordingly, only building and metal trades and grounds and gardening staff may vote on the proposed Monash University Enterprise Agreement (Trades and Services Staff \u2013 Building and Metal Trades Staff and Grounds and Gardening Staff) 2005, and only catering and retail, cleaning and caretaking, and miscellaneous services staff may vote on the proposed Monash University Enterprise Agreement (Trades and Services Staff \u2013 Catering and Retail, Cleaning and Caretaking, and Miscellaneous Services Staff) 2005<\/p>\n

Staff on other campuses or work sites will be offered the option of either attending for a show-of-hands vote at the nearest available campus with no loss of pay or lodging a postal ballot.\u00a0 Once again, staff are only eligible to vote for the particular Agreement covering their employment.\u00a0 However, beyond that, there is no limitation on which show-of-hands vote a staff member may elect to attend.<\/p>\n

Staff recorded as absent on leave on 24 November 2005 as at today will also be offered the option of either attending for a show-of-hands vote at the nearest available campus whilst on leave or lodging a postal ballot.\u00a0 In all cases, postal ballots must be received by the designated Returning Officer by the close of business on 24 November 2005 if they are to count for the purposes of the ballot.<\/p>\n

It would be appreciated if you would draw this e-mail to the attention of trades and services staff under your supervision and management.\u00a0 Where practicable, this includes part-time, seasonal, and casual staff, in addition to staff who are presently absent on leave.\u00a0 It would also assist if you would post copies of this e-mail on any available noticeboards for the information of staff, as well as circulating copies in staff lunch and tea rooms.<\/p>\n
