1. <\/strong>Attorney-General\u2019s Department Essay Competition<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Attorney-General\u2019s Department is holding an essay competition in the lead up to the 2011\u00a0Commonwealth Law Minister\u2019s Meeting (CLMM) as this is\u00a0the first time that Australia will host this meeting of First Law Officers from the Commonwealth. The CLMM 2011 meeting will be held in Sydney from Monday 11 \u2013 Thursday 14 July, 2011 and will be attended by over 50 Commonwealth countries.\u00a0 The essay competition winner will be flown to Sydney to attend the CLMM opening ceremony and will have the opportunity to meet with the Attorney-General and the international Commonwealth delegates. The winning entry will be published on the CLMM 2011 website and in other forums.<\/p>\n

Please note<\/strong> – The essay competition closes on\u00a05.00pm AEST on Monday\u00a06 June, 2011.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a>3. Interna<\/span>tional Criminal Justice Pro<\/span>ject<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

International Criminal Justice concerns the response of the international community to mass atrocity. How such ruptures between people and communities arise, are addressed or are left unaccounted for, raise serious questions for the international community, as they do for Australia. This Symposium brings together national and international experts (including keynote speakers Lord Iain Bonomy of the Scottish Supreme Courts and Judge in the Milo\u0161evic\u00b4 Trial, Professor William A. Schabas of the National University of Ireland, Professor Rob Cryer from Birmingham University and Justice David Harper AM, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Victoria) to consider the coherence and legitimacy of this complex area of international law and<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

5. Shine Lawyers Torts Moot Competition<\/span><\/h4>\n

The QUT Law School, in conjunction with leading law firm Shine Lawyers, is running a Torts Moot Competition in the Law School\u2019s Electronic Moot Court and Industrial Court from 8th<\/sup> \u2013 12th<\/sup> August 2011.<\/p>\n

You are invited to send a team from your law school to take part in this moot. Please find attached a copy of the rules of the competition and a registration form. The problem will be released at the end of May and the moot schedule will be available in June on the site<\/p>\n

6. <\/strong>Semester 1 SETU<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Semester 1 SETU (Student Evaluation of Teaching and Units)\u00a0online surveys\u00a0 are now open\u00a0and you can access these surveys by going to\u00a0https:\/\/my.monash.edu.au\/study\/resources\/evaluations\/<\/a><\/p>\n

We would really appreciate it if you could please complete a SETU survey for each Unit in which you are enrolled as we would like to hear your feedback.\u00a0 The\u00a0Office of Planning and Quality will send you reminder emails to complete a SETU survey for each Unit in which you are currently enrolled until you do actually complete all of \u00a0the surveys.<\/p>\n

The SETU online survey contain 2 sections for you\u00a0to complete before the survey shuts down \u00a0 – one section is all about the Unit\u00a0 and the other about the teachers in that Unit.\u00a0\u00a0We do use the feedback that you give us to help\u00a0identify those Units\u00a0where<\/p>\n

  1. Teaching and Learning is of a particularly high quality – \u00a0so that we can learn from the practises in those Units<\/li>\n
  2. Improvements are needed – so that we can make sure improvements are implemented before the Unit is offered again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
