2. Paid Leadership Opportunity –\u00a0PASS Leaders in the Faculty of Law, Semester 2, 2011<\/span><\/h4>\n

Are you interested in becoming a paid Peer Leader in Australia\u2019s premier academic mentoring program?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Faculty of Law and The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) are introducing the PASS (Peer Assisted Study Session) Program in support of LAW 2102, CONTRACT B.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PASS is an academic mentoring program which targets key 1st<\/sup> Year units (the \u201ctarget units\u201d). PASS provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated study sessions led by mentors called Peer Leaders for students seeking additional assistance with the target units. PASS is not a remedial program, and all students enrolled in the target units will be encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible.<\/p>\n

PASS Leaders attend a two-day training program that focuses on how to facilitate group learning, how to conduct sessions and the concepts of promoting a learning community.<\/p>\n

PASS sessions will commence in Week 3 of semester and continue until the end of Week 12 (ten weeks). Leaders must be able to complete a two day training program in July prior to the semester beginning.<\/p>\n

PASS Leaders are employed by the University, and are paid approximately $120\/week during Semester.\u00a0 It is possible for students to work as PASS Leaders for several semesters, and leadership positions are available for experienced PASS Leaders.<\/p>\n

We are looking to recruit students to become PASS Leaders.\u00a0 The basic criteria fill the leader positions are as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. You must have successfully completed at least 48 credit points<\/strong> of study in a Monash bachelor degree.<\/li>\n
  2. You must have at least 48 credit points of study required<\/strong> to complete your Monash bachelor degree after<\/span> Semester 1, 2011.<\/li>\n
  3. You must have achieved a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 60<\/strong> to date across your course.<\/li>\n
  4. You must have achieved a Distinction or better<\/strong> in Law 2101, Contract B.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. You should possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. You must be able to attend the compulsory PASS Leader Training Program<\/strong> at Clayton on Thursday \u2013 Friday, 21st<\/sup> \u2013 22nd<\/sup> July.<\/li>\n
  7. You must be able to commit to up to five hours per week<\/strong> to the PASS program during Semester.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Students interested in applying to be a PASS Leader should e-mail the following documents to Adrian Devey, the Monash PASS Coordinator, at <\/strong>adrian.devey@monash.edu<\/a> by 9.00am on Monday 18 July 2011.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. A brief cover letter that explains why you want to be a PASS Leader in the Faculty of Law (one page maximum<\/strong>). Applications are especially encouraged from students receiving Centrelink, Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY, are living out of home, are first generation in their family undertaking a degree, or can demonstrate financial hardship. Please include this information in your application.<\/li>\n
    2. A copy of your CV.\u00a0 Please focus on demonstrating\u00a0leadership and communication\u00a0skills through relevant experience, such as tutoring or\u00a0coaching, positions of responsibility\u00a0in clubs and societies, or work in the retail or hospitality industries (two pages maximum<\/strong>).<\/li>\n
    3. A complete copy of your latest academic transcript<\/strong>, including results from Semester 1, 2011 and the units in which you are enrolled in 2011 (the \u201cunofficial\u201d WES transcript is acceptable).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Applications that are either late or are incomplete (i.e. do not include the three documents specified above) will not be considered.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      3. Presenting as a Professional<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

      Learn how to impress employers face-to-face. Presenting as a professional is a 1-day program supporting students and recent graduates in their preparation for professional employment. There are only 90 places available.<\/p>\n
