Deacons &#8211; Open Day for Students \u2013 Hong Kong<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Deacons,\u00a0the largest independent full service law firm in Hong Kong is running an Open Day &amp; Cocktail Reception at its Hong Kong office for students studying overseas on 20<sup>th<\/sup> December 2011. The event will give you a chance to gain greater insights to the life at Deacons. You will take a look around the office and attend informative talks given by the Graduate Recruitment Partners and current Trainees. Paid Leadership Opportunity &#8211; &#8216;PASS Leaders&#8217; in the Faculty of Law, Semester 1, 2012<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Are you interested in becoming a paid Peer Leader in Australia\u2019s premier academic mentoring program?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Faculty of Law and The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) are introducing the PASS (Peer Assisted Study Session) Program in support of\u00a0<strong>LAW 2101, CONTRACT A.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PASS is an academic mentoring program which targets key 1<sup>st<\/sup> Year units (the \u201ctarget units\u201d). PASS provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated study sessions led by mentors called Peer Leaders for students seeking additional assistance with the target units. PASS is not a remedial program, and all students enrolled in the target units will be encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible.<\/p>\n<p>PASS Leaders attend a two-day training program that focuses on how to facilitate group learning, how to conduct sessions and the concepts of promoting a learning community.<\/p>\n<p>PASS sessions will commence in Week 3 of semester and continue until the end of Week 12 (ten weeks). Leaders must be able to complete a two day training program in\u00a0February during &#8216;O Week&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>PASS Leaders are employed by the University, and are paid approximately $120\/week during Semester.\u00a0 It is possible for students to work as PASS Leaders for several semesters, and leadership positions are available for experienced PASS Leaders.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking to recruit students to become PASS Leaders.\u00a0 The basic criteria fill the leader positions are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You must have successfully\u00a0<strong>completed at least 48 credit points<\/strong> of study in a Monash bachelor degree.<\/li>\n<li>You must have at least\u00a0<strong>48 credit points of study required<\/strong> to complete your Monash bachelor degree\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">after<\/span>Semester 2, 2011.<\/li>\n<li>You must have achieved a\u00a0<strong>Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 60<\/strong> to date across your course.<\/li>\n<li>You must have achieved a\u00a0<strong>Distinction or better<\/strong> in\u00a0<strong>Law 2101, Contract A.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You should possess\u00a0<strong>excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>You must be able to attend the\u00a0<strong>compulsory PASS Leader Training Program<\/strong> at Clayton on\u00a0Thursday and Friday of O-Week (23-24 Feb 2012).<\/li>\n<li>You must be able to\u00a0<strong>commit to up to five hours per week<\/strong> to the PASS program during Semester.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Students interested in applying to be a PASS Leader should e-mail the following documents to Adrian Devey, the Monash PASS Coordinator, at <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:adrian.devey@monash.edu\" target=\"_blank\">adrian.devey@monash.edu<\/a><strong> by 9.00am on Monday 12\u00a0December 2011.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A brief cover letter that explains why you want to be a PASS Leader in the Faculty of Law (<strong>one page maximum<\/strong>). Applications are especially encouraged from students receiving Centrelink, Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY, are living out of home, are first generation in their family undertaking a degree, or can demonstrate financial hardship.
