Allen &amp; Overy, Hong Kong \u2013 2012 Vacation Placement Scheme \u2013 DEADLINE EXTENDED<br \/>\n<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><em>Applications are now open until Tuesday 6 March, 2012<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Allen &amp; Overy are inviting Monash law students to apply for a four-week summer vacation placement for June or July 2012.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">They are keen to receive applications from  penultimate or final year LLB students who are interested in joining our  Summer Placement Scheme in Hong Kong in 2012, with a view to applying  for a trainee solicitor position in Hong Kong in September 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The interview takes the form of a  preparation-free case study. They will assess your ability to work as  part of a team, your leadership and presentation skills and  entrepreneurial spirit and energy. Excellent academic results are  essential and Chinese language skills are highly advantageous.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Their placements include experience in two  seats in different departments, a full training programme, a series of  challenging assessments, individual coaching from your trainer and a  calendar packed with social and pro bono activities. They will also pay  PCLL course fees and subsidise living expenses if you accept a training  contract with them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">To ensure the entry requirements for the  PCLL courses can be satisfied (particularly the overseas law students),  all interested students must visit the websites of:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left\">\n<li>The Law Society of Hong Kong<\/li>\n<li>City University of Hong Kong<\/li>\n<li> The University of Hong Kong and<\/li>\n<li>The Chinese University of Hong Kong<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">There are very strict conversion exemptions  and examinations that you need to comply with before you can study the  PCLL in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">To apply for the Summer Placement Scheme, please go <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allenovery.com\/careers\">here<\/a>,  then select \u201cHong Kong\u201d and complete the \u201cSummer Vacation Placement  2012\u201d application form. The Commission does not provide any remuneration or financial assistance to interns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">An internship at the Law Reform Commission provides an opportunity to work closely with the Commissioners and law reform staff and contribute directly to the development of proposals for law reform. Depending on the reference this could include undertaking research, contributing to drafting consultation documents, assisting with consultation processes, or helping draft reports. The Commission credits the contribution of interns in its published papers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The Commission seeks to provide a stimulating environment and a varied experience for interns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Interns should be available to work 6-8 weeks equivalent full-time (this must be comprised of at least 4 weeks full-time work, the remainder can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis) commencing in June or July 2012. Tipstaff to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Applications are invited for the position of Tipstaff to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Honourable T F Bathurst.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment will commence in late January 2013. Applicants are expected to continue on the staff of the Chief Justice for the year 2014 in the position of Research Director. The primary role of Tipstaff is assisting the Chief Justice with legal research. The Tipstaff also performs a range of court-related duties in Chambers, as well as spending a substantial amount of time in court.
