1. Assessment Submissions <\/span><\/h4>\n

Assessments (research assignments and take-home examinations) must be submitted as an electronic copy to:
\npg.assessment@law.monash.edu.au<\/a><\/p>\n

The email subject should include: Unit Code \u2013 Exam or Assignment \u2013 Surname (For example: LAW7212-Assignment-Surname).<\/p>\n

Submission of a completed assessment task cover sheet is required.<\/p>\n

Please remember you are required to keep an up-to-date copy of all submitted assessments to safeguard against the loss of work through accident or error.
\nPlease note:\u00a0 <\/strong>You must put your name and Student ID number on every page of your assignment either as a header or a footer and you must number the pages in your assignment.<\/p>\n

2. New Units – Enrol Now!<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Faculty is pleased to advise that Professor Samuel Murumba from the Brooklyn Law School in New York will be teaching the unit Current Issues in Intellectual Property (LAW7309)<\/strong>, scheduled to commence on Wednesday 26 May, 2010.<\/p>\n

The unit will concentrate on key, cutting-edge issues not covered in depth or at all in the other Intellectual Property Units. These issues mainly arise from the dramatic impact of complex technological and global developments on Intellectual Property law and practice.<\/p>\n

They include:
\nIP-Jurisdictional issues, especially in the digital networked environment;The intersection of trademarks and commercial designations with domain names, especially the proposed generic top-level domain names (gTLDs) and domain names in non-roman characters which will have profound implications for online trademarks.
\nThe expanding scope of trade mark protection (well-known marks\/dilution, defensive registration etc).
\nComparative database protection, including the EC Directive and US developments.
\nComparative business method patents including the anticipated US Supreme Court decision in Bilski<\/em>etc.<\/p>\n

The Faculty is pleased to advise that a new postgraduate unit, International labour law – LAW7449 <\/strong>has been added to the 2010 calendar. The unit International labour law will run intensively.<\/p>\n

3. 2010 Postgraduate Student Representative<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Postgraduate Student Representative for 2010 is Daniel Stepanenko, representing all Monash PG law students (including JD and LLM) on the Postgraduate Studies Committee and the Law Faculty Board this year.<\/p>\n

If students have queries, issues, or suggestions that they would like to raise concerning their studies, their course, or the Law Faculty they are encouraged to contact Daniel. He will\u00a0endeavour\u00a0to address individual student queries, or suggest the appropriate avenue for them.<\/p>\n
