This seminar considers the extent to which there is a right to be forgotten in European data protection law i.e. to what extent individuals may insist on the removal by search engines such as Google of links to materials on the internet that relate to them.<\/p>\n
The seminar will be presented by Professor Maeve McDonagh who is an academic lawyer specialising in information law, including FOI and data protection.<\/p>\n
The presentation will have as its focus the May 2014 decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Google Spain v Gonzales. The role played in this decision by both the European legal framework for the protection of personal data and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU will be considered.<\/p>\n
