The program was introduced into the Magistrates\u2019 Court, Victoria with effect from 1 July 2012 after a 2010 pilot. In Early Neutral Evaluation, parties present their cases by way of submission on the facts and law to an evaluator, who provides them with a non-binding, confidential evaluation of their dispute.\u00a0 The Chief Magistrate will discuss how the process operates, in what circumstances it is most effective and the success of the programme generally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px;padding: 0px;font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif;line-height: 18.2000007629395px\">Peter Lauritsen became the Chief Magistrate of Victoria on 29 November 2012 after being first being appointed as a magistrate in 1989, and Deputy Chief Magistrate in 2003. Between 1987 and 1989, he was a magistrate for the Northern Territory.
