1. Applications for Professional Practice, Family Law Assistance Program and Clinical Externship<\/span><\/h3>\n

\n2. Busk Stop Program, Clayton Campus <\/span><\/h3>\n


\nMonash University is currently seeking performers to participate in the inaugural Busk Stop Program. <\/span><\/p>\n


\nPerformers will be invited to entertain the campus community in a traditional busking format at a variety of identified locations around campus. The aim is to add to the vibrancy of the campus and create a fun\/entertaining atmosphere.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe program will be running during week 10, Monday 5 October – Friday 9 October.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nPerformers may provide a facility for donations from the public toward their performance, in a subtle and non-intrusive manner and to assist Monash will offer a $50 donation to each performer.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n3. Caulfield Campus Green and Sound Shell Launch<\/span><\/h3>\n

\nProfessor David Copolov extends a warm invitation to Clayton students and staff to attend the launch of the Caulfield Campus Green and Sound Shell. This exciting event will take place on the Campus Green on Monday 12th October from 4pm to 8pm. <\/span><\/p>\n


\nWe are delighted to see this architecturally designed part of the campus alive with colour and activity after many months of construction and development. We\u2019d be very pleased if you could join us.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n4. Law Firm Opportunity for Bright and Enthusiastic Student With Interest in IP<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

A mid-sized Melbourne firm specializing in IP and biotech matters is looking for a bright Monash law student to do some paid research and writing work on a flexible, ongoing basis. Some weeks there might be 3-4 hours work, others none.\u00a0 The role will have a patent focus with an emphasis on issues in pharma and biotech, as well as other forms of IP. <\/span><\/p>\n

5. International Humanitarian Law Student Writing Competition<\/span><\/h3>\n


\nAmerican University Washington College of Law <\/span>Center for Human Rights & Humanitarian Law<\/span><\/a> (Center), the <\/span>American Society of International Law\u2019s Lieber Society<\/span><\/a> (ASIL), and the<\/span>American Red Cross International Humanitarian Law<\/span><\/a> team are pleased to announce the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Student Writing Competition. The Competition seeks submissions of academic papers on the topic of international humanitarian law (IHL) from students currently enrolled in a law degree program in the United States or abroad. The purpose of the Competition is to enhance scholarship and deepen understanding among students in this important area of international law.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe theme of the 2015 Competition is \u201cThe Intersection of International Humanitarian Law and Gender.\u201d Papers should focus on ways in which IHL intersects with gender issues, such as the role of women as combatants, the gendered use of sexual violence during times of armed conflict, the impact of \u00a0gender stereotyping on international humanitarian law, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n6. Honours Research Unit Information Session 2015 <\/span><\/h3>\n


\nMany of the Faculty’s top students in their penultimate or last year of law elect to enrol in the Honours Research Unit (Honours Thesis LAW4327).<\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe Honours Research Unit is a 12 credit point unit intended for students with an interest and aptitude to produce a significant piece of original work in an area of the law that fascinates them. The Unit involves students writing an 8-10,000 word thesis under the supervision of an academic member of staff, on a topic chosen by the student, and approved by the Honours Convenor.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nStudents also attend 3 symposiums throughout the year, designed to support them through the research process. At the end of the year students present their thesis findings to their peers and invited guests at a 2 day Honours Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nTo be eligible for the Honours Research Unit, students must have an average of 72% or better across their law units, and have no more than 72 credit points remaining to complete the requirements of their law degree.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n7. Refurbishment of Tennis Courts <\/span><\/h3>\n


\nFrom Tuesday 15 September to Sunday 15 November 2015 all of the 8 tennis courts on Clayton campus will be unavailable due to refurbishment of the courts. <\/span><\/p>\n


\nThere will also be restricted access for pedestrians behind the courts. <\/span><\/p>\n


\nThese tennis courts are located at 42 Scenic Boulevard (next to Sports & Rec).<\/span><\/p>\n


\n8. Research Participants Needed for LGBTIQ Study <\/span><\/h3>\n


\nWould you like to participate in a research project concerning LGBTIQ, questioning and non-gender binary experiences of bullying and harassment in tertiary spaces. A new study is looking to interview undergraduate students at Monash as part of a pilot study.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe purpose of this study is to investigate who within the LGBTIQ student community experiences harassment and bullying in a tertiary setting; and determine what impacts this may have on LGBTIQ students\u2019 access to supportive educational outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nIt is hoped that a greater understanding of LGBTIQ experiences of violence in university settings will allow further exploration into how such intolerance can be combatted to facilitate an increased understanding of the needs of LGBTIQ youth.<\/span><\/p>\n
