1. Faculty Managed Internship Opportunity \u2013 Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) Internship<\/span><\/h3>\n

2. Are you ready for a global career?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Contemporary legal practice is no longer limited to the local.<\/p>\n

Lawyers now practice in a global context: across jurisdictions, in diverse cultural environments and often mediated by digital technologies.<\/p>\n

Against this context this new unit (LAW4250, offered over Summer 2016-17) provides the foundation from which law graduates might take advantage of the increasing opportunities in global legal practice.<\/p>\n

3. Connecting with Law Short Film Competition<\/h2>\n

The Connecting with Law Short Film Competition is launching again for 2016.<\/p>\n

Open to all Australian law students, the Connecting with Law Short Film Competition is an opportunity for students to get creative, get their name known in law and be in the running to win great prizes.<\/p>\n

This year, students are invited to create a 2-5 minute film about what inspires them to study law, that will educate, entertain and engage their fellow law students and help them connect with law.<\/p>\n

4. Indigenous rights and international law (LAW5348) – Still spaces available in postgraduate unit<\/h2>\n

Led by Melissa Castan, this popular unit will examine the existing international law that promotes\/protects human rights and freedoms of Indigenous peoples and locate this law within their culture and traditions. The impact of the major international instruments that protect and promote the rights of Indigenous peoples will be discussed. Teaching period is 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13 May 2016, 9.30am \u2013 4pm Monash University Law Chambers. Assessment is by seminar participation: 10%, Literature review (equivalent to 800 words): 10%, Research paper (6,000 words): 80%. 5. International Trade and Business Law Review – request for submissions<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Editorial Board of the <\/span>International Trade and Business Law Review<\/em> (\u2018the <\/span>Review<\/em>) are now inviting submissions for Volume XX of the <\/span>Review<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Review<\/em> publishes leading articles consisting of original research, case notes, comments, and book reviews concerning international trade and business law, arbitration law and comparative law.<\/p>\n

Academic staff and students now have the opportunity to make a submission to the\u00a0Review<\/em>.<\/p>\n

7. Medico-Legal Society of Victoria Essay Competition<\/h2>\n

The Medico Legal Society of Victoria would like to invite final year students studying Law or Medicine to enter an essay competition.<\/p>\n

The topic of the essay is:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most controversial issue the medico-legal sphere faces today is…..\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition is an excellent opportunity for final year students to gain access to a professional organisation prior completion of their degrees and the opportunity to meet and learn from professionals in their field.<\/p>\n

The competition will close on Monday 30 May 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Essays should be between 1500 and 2000 words in length.<\/p>\n

Total (non-cash) Prize value is approximately $1,635.00 per Prize winner.<\/p>\n

8. Prestigious Scholarship Information Session<\/h2>\n

Prestigious scholarships provide outstanding students with the resources needed to excel.<\/p>\n

These generous and well recognised scholarships are open to those committed to contributing to a better future, and who are able to demonstrate leadership and academic merit.<\/p>\n

The Prestigious Scholarship Information Session will provide interested students with strategies and handy tips about how to apply, firsthand information from the scholarship providers in attendance and the opportunity to ask questions and receive personal advice.<\/p>\n

Attending the event will be representatives from Museum Victoria, the Menzies Foundation, the Fulbright Commission, the Department of Education and Training (Endeavour Scholarship), the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (New Colombo Plan), the Sir John Monash Foundation and Westpac (Westpac Future Leaders Scholarship), and recipients from various scholarships including the Rhodes Trust.<\/p>\n

9. Internship Opportunity in Rome, Italy<\/h2>\n

The four week internship with Studio Legale Delfino e Associati Wilkie Farr & Gallagher LLP<\/strong>, an international law firm in Rome, will run between around mid-June and the end of July 2016, with the final start and end dates to be negotiated with the student and the firm.<\/p>\n

Subject to eligibility, Faculty funding will be available for the successful applicant from the Law Faculty\u2019s Student Mobility Fund.<\/p>\n

10. Taxation Law and Advanced Taxation Law<\/h2>\n

Two of our LLB(Hons) units (LAW4704 Taxation Law and LAW4332 Advanced Taxation Law) have been approved by the Tax Practitioners Board as approved courses in Australian taxation law that can count towards qualification as a registered tax agent. Note that in addition to undertaking these units, there are other requirements that must also be met.<\/p>\n

11. Endeavour Mobility Grants 2017 applications now open<\/h2>\n

Applications for the 2017 round of Endeavour Mobility Grants funded by the Australian Government are now open.<\/p>\n

This funding provides support for students on international outbound short-term programs and semester length programs and can include an administrative supplement for the management of the mobility projects.<\/p>\n

We invite you to consider an application within the 2017 round of Endeavour Mobility Grants funding round through the following guidelines and the Monash internal application template.<\/p>\n
