Law Council of Australia Scholarships: Business Law<\/h2>\n<p>Each year the Business Law Section offers three scholarships of $5000 to the writer of the best papers in fields of Competition, Corporations and Taxation Law.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarships are targeted to \u2018early career\u2019 legal professionals with less than four years of professional experience in the legal field of their paper. In the past winners have come from across academia, business and government sectors.<\/p>\n<p>These scholarships are well suited to any Honours or research student who has previously written on a topic in one of the available fields.<\/p>\n<p>Entries close <strong>Sunday 31 July 2016<\/strong> at <strong>5.00pm<\/strong>. Leap into Leadership Online<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mona.sh\/109Add\">Leap into Leadership Online<\/a> is a suite of free modules to develop your employability and leadership skills at your own pace. HSF-NLUD International Negotiation Competition (INC)<\/h2>\n<p>INC is a competition organised by Herbert Smith Freehills and National Law University Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>The first edition of the competition took place in 2014 and it was a big hit. The second edition, which was held in September 2015, drew participants from 23 internationally renowned universities from five countries, including the likes of Cambridge, Oxford, Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Cologne.<\/p>\n<p>The competition aims at providing an opportunity to law students of select top universities across the globe to practice and improve their negotiation skills. It provides a platform for students to compete in a truly diverse and an international environment. The competition is carefully structured to simulate legal negotiations particularly for those students who aspire to be international lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>Students participating in the competition will assume the roles of international lawyers in negotiating a series of legal problems. The problems will be based on real life examples and will comprise a common set of facts known to all participants and confidential information known only to the participants representing a particular side.<\/p>\n<p>Each team will consist of two students, who must be enrolled in a full time degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) as at September 1 2016. Only one team per university will be allowed. The competition will begin <strong>15 June 2016<\/strong> (release of the problem), with the finals being <strong>11 September 2016<\/strong> and held in <strong>Delhi, India<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Please see <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1NcxB01\">here<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<h1>Social Justice &amp; Equity<\/h1>\n<h2>1. Clayton Utz Diversity Lecture<\/h2>\n<p>Clayton Utz will be hosting the inaugural Diversity Lecture at its Melbourne office this May.<\/p>\n<p>This year, members of the CU LGBTI Alliance will present the lecture which will focus on the current legal framework concerning children hoping to transition and how it could be improved.\u00a0 As you may know, a key concern for these children and their families is the requirement for court approval before being able to undergo treatment.\u00a0 The lecture will address this and other issues.<\/p>\n<p>The idea to host the lecture is borne out of CU&#8217;s desire to connect more with uni students, its prospective employees, by showing them its interest in and commitment to issues affecting groups which make its workplace a diverse and enriched environment.\u00a0The CU LGBTI program, the LGBTI Alliance, is the mechanism through which the firm seeks to ensure that it has a culture of inclusion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date: <\/strong>Wednesday 18 May 2016<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time: <\/strong>drinks from 6.00pm with a 6.30pm start time<\/p>\n<p><strong>Venue: <\/strong>Clayton Utz, Level 18, 333 Collins Street, Melbourne<\/p>\n<p><strong>RSVP essential: <\/strong>please email <a href=\"mailto:aottobre@claytonutz.com\">aottobre@claytonutz.com<\/a> with your name and university by <strong>Wednesday 11 May 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h1>JD<\/h1>\n<h2>1.
