Book Launch &#8211; United States Migrant Interdiction and the Detention of Refugees in Guant\u00e1namo Bay<\/h2>\n<p>Australia\u2019s detention of asylum seekers in Nauru and Papua New Guinea is modelled on the long standing US Migrant Interdiction Program which includes the detention of refugees by the US in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>This new book by\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/monash.edu\/research\/people\/profiles\/profile.html?sid=8388&amp;pid=4030\">Dr Azadeh Dastyari<\/a><\/strong> examines the US\u2019 compliance with its legal obligations as it interdicts asylum seekers at sea, detains refugees in its immigration detention centre in Guant\u00e1namo Bay and resettles refugees in third countries.
