1. 2017 Model United Nations in New York or Montreal<\/h2>\n

The Monash International Affairs Society (MIAS) is offering the opportunity to travel internationally and undertake a Model United Nations in New York or Montreal in 2017.<\/p>\n

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations landscape, providing students with the opportunity to engage in academically oriented discussion and debate about the greatest and most immediate challenges the world.<\/p>\n

2. Aurora Internship Program<\/h2>\n
The Aurora Internship Program continues to place law, anthropology and other social science<\/div>\n
(namely archaeology, cultural heritage, environmental management, human geography, history and<\/div>\n
sociology) students and graduates from Australian universities at Native Title Representative Bodies<\/div>\n
(NTRBs), Prescribed Bodies Corporates (PBCs) and at other organisations involved in policdevelopment, research and social justice, all working to support the broader Indigenous sector<\/div>\n
Australia-wide. The Program introduces candidates to career opportunities in native title and the<\/div>\n
Indigenous sector and at the same time provides assistance to under-resourced and over-worked<\/div>\n
organisations.<\/div>\n
The on-line application period for the summer 2016\/17 round of internships open Monday 1 August<\/div>\n

6. Faculty Managed Internship: Herzog Fox & Neeman, Israel<\/h2>\n

7. Inaugural Michael Taussig QC Family Law Essay Awards<\/h2>\n

The Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia is pleased to invite law students to participate in the inaugural\u00a0Michael Taussig QC Family Law Essay Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Awards commemorate the life and contribution of Michael Taussig QC, one of the Family Law Section\u2019s most outstanding members.<\/p>\n

The Family Law Section is the largest of the Law Council’s specialist sections. Since its inception in 1985, the Section has developed a reputation as a source of innovative, constructive and informed leadership in all areas of family law reform and policy development. With a national membership of more than 2,500 family lawyers and related professionals, the organisation is committing to furthering the development of practice in family law for the benefit of the Australian community.<\/p>\n

Two Awards will be offered in 2016, one for junior lawyers and the second for law students.<\/p>\n

The student Award is open to law students from all Australian Universities, with a prize value of\u00a0$1,500<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

8. International Students Work Rights Legal Service<\/h2>\n

A new\u00a0International Students Work Rights Legal Service<\/strong> is now operating in Victoria.<\/p>\n

JobWatch Inc, in collaboration with the Study Melbourne Student Centre and Inner Melbourne Community Legal, is operating this new legal service at the\u00a0Study Melbourne Student Centre<\/a> every Thursday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Study Melbourne Student Centre (SMSC) is a free and confidential \u2018one stop shop\u2019 where international students in Victoria can access a range of free support, information and welfare services.<\/p>\n

As part of the service, a JobWatch lawyer will be based at the Study Melbourne Student Centre\u00a0each Thursday<\/strong> from\u00a09.00am until 5.00pm<\/strong> to give international students free and confidential legal advice about work-related matters. JobWatch is also available to assist international students with work-related matters during the rest of the week.<\/p>\n

Inner Melbourne Community Legal (IMCL) is available to assist international students with general law consultations (not including immigration advice). A lawyer from IMCL will be at the Study Melbourne Student Centre every Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

10. PITCH ORIGINATOR! A Monash start up competition<\/h2>\n

This start up competition will allow the Monash community to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and aim to launch their awesome idea to commercial success. Students & staff from across the University are eligible to apply. Five winning teams will each receive $20,000, plus entry into the ACCELERATOR program to help refine and polish their idea so it is ready to pitch to investors for seed investment by the end of the program.<\/p>\n
