Time management and procrastination: Leap into Leadership online<\/h2>\n<p>We know it\u2019s hard to manage your time while at university. Balancing study, work, volunteering and other responsibilities can be stressful.<\/p>\n<p>Now is the perfect time to get organised and develop your skills.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why Monash has created\u00a0<em>Time Management and Prioritisation<\/em>, a free online module for all students.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll learn how to stay focused and avoid procrastination, create an effective to-do list and delegate to your team. It only takes about one to two hours to complete the module, and you\u2019ll receive a personalised certificate and resource pack when you finish.<\/p>\n<p><em>Time Management and Prioritisation<\/em> is just one module offered in Leap into Leadership Online: a suite of interactive modules you can complete any time, at any stage of your studies. With modules on communication, teamwork, goal-setting and more, there\u2019s plenty of topics to suit you.<\/p>\n<p>Get your semester on the right track &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/moodle.vle.monash.edu\/enrol\/index.php?id=29529\">enrol in \u201cTime Management and Prioritisation\u201d now.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>2. AIM Overseas courses for law students<\/h2>\n<p>AIM runs three courses over the January 2017 holidays that are targeted at law students. See below.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>International Human Rights Law in Argentina<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Info: http:\/\/aimoverseas.com.au\/program\/law-argentina\/<\/p>\n<p>The International Human Rights Law program in Argentina provides a rich understanding of the history of Human Rights abuse in Argentina over the last 40 years. In order to critically analyse complex issues such as judicial independence, transnational justice, military dictatorship and amnesty laws, these academic classes will conduct an overview of the key international actors involved in Argentina, as well as international conventions and resolutions currently in place. Cultural activities will also be included, with students getting to visit La Poderosa, the Former Clandestine Detention Centre and Parque de la Memoria.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>International Commercial ADR: Negotiation, Mediation and Arbitration &#8211; USA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Info: http:\/\/aimoverseas.com.au\/program\/international-commercial-alternative-dispute-resolution<\/p>\n<p>This January 2017 holidays, Law students will have an exciting opportunity to study key issues in resolving commercial disputes through negotiation, mediation, and arbitration in the context of globalisation. Taught by Michigan State University, one of the USA&#8217;s prestigious &#8220;Big 10&#8221; Universities; this 3-week program will help students from across Australia explore the use of negotiation to create transactions in the first place and to resolve disputes when they arise. It further examines more structured dispute resolution techniques involving neutral third parties \u2014 mediation and arbitration. Finally, students will be exposed to the use of arbitration as a commercial remedy \u2013 its basic operational framework and the arbitral institutions which promulgate rules and administer cases.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>International Environmental Law &#8211; The Netherlands<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Info http:\/\/aimoverseas.com.au\/program\/international-environmental-law\/<\/p>\n<p>This exciting course looks at the nationalisation of environmental law at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Situated in the beautiful student city of Maastricht, students will learn through an excellent mix of classes, field trips and site visits. Forms are available from our website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.monashlss.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">monashlss.com<\/a> under the \u201cAbout Us\u201d and \u201cElections 2017\u201d tabs.<\/p>\n<p>We strongly encourage all members to consider running for the Monash LSS.<\/p>\n<p>For LLB students, this form needs to be printed and deposited in the LSS nominations box located at student services. Alternatively there are hard copies located at the nominations box and in the LSS office.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations close <strong>Wednesday 31st August at 5.00pm<\/strong>. Plain Language Training with the VLF<\/h2>\n<p>The Victorian Law Foundation will be attending Monash University Clayton on Tuesday 30 August to help students develop their legal writing skills. As more and more firms adopt plain language policies, law students wanting to make their mark on the profession need to display an ability to deliver the law with a client-centred focus.<\/p>\n<p>The training provides law students from all year levels the chance to develop their legal writing skills. Homelessness, Poverty &amp; the Law seminar<\/h2>\n<p>Your LSS SJE portfolio is bringing you another informative session on homelessness and poverty.<\/p>\n<p>Access to justice is a real issue in our country. Systematic unfairness can lead to prolonged inequality that can continue on as individuals struggle to escape the poverty cycle.
