International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia<\/h2>\n<p>Diversity and Inclusion are proud to be celebrating\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/idahobit.org.au\/\">International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT)<\/a>\u00a0with a week of events and activities (15 &#8211; 18 May) in partnership with MSA, MONSU Caulfield, MONSU Peninsula, MPA, MPSU and PPA, across the Caulfield, Clayton, Parkville and Peninsula campuses. We will also be flying the Rainbow flag alongside the national, state, Indigenous and Torres Strait Island flags, for the week.<\/p>\n<p>IDAHOBIT was created in 2004 to highlight the violence and discrimination experienced by the LGBTIQ community internationally. The date, May 17, was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organisation&#8217;s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.<\/p>\n<p>All members of the Monash community are welcome to attend events throughout the week including free barbeques, free screenings of the recent documentaries Real Boy (2016) and Gayby Baby (2015) documentaries, an afternoon tea celebrating the new\u00a0all gender toilets\u00a0at Monash, a flag raising ceremony and more. For the duration of the week we will be exhibiting photos on the Northern Plaza screen that represent this years theme of\u00a0<em>Families<\/em>. We invite you to take part and send through a photo of what family means to you in the spirit of IDAHOBIT.
