Sir John Monash Medal &#8211; nominations now open<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>Each year, the Faculty of Law awards the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.monash.edu\/law\/current-students\/assessments\/prizes\/sir-john-monash-medal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sir\u00a0John\u00a0Monash\u00a0Medal\u00a0for Outstanding Achievement<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The\u00a0Sir\u00a0John\u00a0Monash\u00a0Medal\u00a0for Outstanding Achievement is awarded to a student who:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>has completed the academic requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Laws and is eligible to graduate;<\/li>\n<li>is judged to have an excellent academic record; and<\/li>\n<li>has demonstrated a significant commitment to advancing the University&#8217;s goals of social justice, human rights and a sustainable environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p>Nominations for the\u00a0Sir\u00a0John\u00a0Monash\u00a0medal\u00a0close <strong>Friday 22 February 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A nomination can be made by the student, a fellow student, and any\u00a0Monash\u00a0staff member or any member of the community by completing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.monash.edu\/__data\/assets\/pdf_file\/0004\/1577524\/sir-john-monash-nomination-form-2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nomination form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All nominations must include a letter from the nominator explaining the reason for the nomination and a statement from the nominee addressing how he\/she meets each of the eligibility criteria. Please also provide any supporting information which could be of use to the selection committee and permission from the student to have his or her academic records released to the selection committee.<\/p>\n<p>Please submit your completed nomination form and any supporting documentation to\u00a0the Faculty\u00a0of Law Student\u00a0Services Manager via the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSemb4PW1gRQtF2fgflSvECzFDBtCQ54kDRckKA_VgAVsrnqDw\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online submission form<\/a>\u00a0by no later than <strong>5:00 pm on Friday 22\u00a0<\/strong><strong>February 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>2. Attend a UN delegation in New York<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">UNCCA invites Australian Law student to apply to participate in the UNLAWS Scheme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">UNCCA (UNCITRAL National Coordination Committee for Australia) has established a scheme for Australian law students to attend\u00a0<strong>UNCITRAL Working Group meetings in New York (UN Headquarters)<\/strong>\u00a0in 2019 as part of a delegation with Australian UNCCA Expert members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The aim of the UNLAWS Scheme is to increase awareness of the work of UNCITRAL and to provide students with a unique opportunity to participate in the consideration and formulation of future harmonised legal texts in relation to trade law.\u00a0 Each Working Group sessions typically last of one week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information about the\u00a0UNLAWS Scheme (including how to apply) please contact the\u00a0Convenor\u00a0of UNLAWS, Dr Alan Davidson, Education Director of UNCCA.
