International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia<\/h2>\n<div>Monash will be celebrating the LGBTIQ community events throughout Week 10 to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>May 17 commemorates the World Health Organisation&#8217;s decision to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder in 1990 and has been celebrated since 2004 to highlight the violence and discrimination experienced by the LGBTIQ community.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This year the theme is Justice and Protection for All. It reminds us that injustice, fear and danger are present in the lives of many LGBTIQ communities here and around the world. Across the globe, 72 states still criminalise same-sex sexual relations, while only 63 states provide some form of anti-discrimination protection. We don&#8217;t believe that&#8217;s fair.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So come and celebrate with the Australian LGBTIQ community and students and staff from across the university. Monash Runs for Refugees \u2013 Raise $100,000 to support Asylum Seeker Scholarships at Monash<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">On July 28, hundreds of Monash staff, students, and alumni are taking part in Run Melbourne to raise $100,000 for Asylum Seeker Scholarships here at Monash, and you can help make a difference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through the generosity of staff, students, and alumni over $50,000 was raised last year \u2013 that\u2019s enough to cover over a year of an asylum seeker\u2019s education at Monash.
