The Monash Law School Ambassadors Program 2010 presents the inaugural Law Beyond Practice \u2013 Alternative Law Careers Night.<\/p>\n

Law degrees are naturally oriented towards the practice of commercial law. Each year, however, more and more Monash law graduates choose non-commercial law pathways. This event aims to highlight this growing trend by connecting ambitious current law students to persons who have chosen less traditional law-related career paths, to discuss \u2013 in an informal setting \u2013 other career options and professions available to them that are personally and professionally fulfilling.<\/p>\n

Take the opportunity to talk to leaders representing a broad range of fields such as not-for-profit organisations, environment conservation groups, accounting firms, government departments etc.<\/p>\n

Our presenter, Catriona McCallum is Recruitment Consultant for Dun and Bradstreet \u2013 a financial consulting firm that specializes in marketing\/sales, credit reporting and debt collection. Catriona was awarded Graduate Recruiter of the Year by AAGE (Australian Association of Graduate Employers) in 2008 and has since employed a large number of graduates. Catriona will speak to students about how to properly tailor your CV in order to apply for specific vacation and graduate positions. She will also provide tips on interview etiquette and reveal the secrets on how to properly establish a rapport with your interviewer in order to secure the position you want. There will be 30mins of question time following the seminar.<\/p>\n

You do not have to be a member of Golden Key to attend. The event is FREE for all students!<\/p>\n
