Several Chinese rare books from the University of Melbourne Cultural Collections are currently on display at the Sir Louis Matheson Library’s Asian Studies Research Collection  at Clayton Campus.

This is part of a joint exhibition in Asian Arts being conducted by  ALIM – Asian Libraries in Melbourne, a collaborative venture between Monash and Melbourne University libraries. By sharing resources and expertise and jointly developing collections, ALIM facilitates access and provides an enhanced service to researchers and students.

A reciprocal display currently mounted in the Baillieu Library, University of Melbourne, includes rare and special items from Monash University Library Asian Studies Research Collection on the themes of ‘Asian arts’ and ‘Asian scripts’.

The items displayed are only a sample of the rare and unique Asian items held by these libraries. Visit the Matheson Library to see the items on display and to access the Asian Studies Research Collection, a leading research facility in Australia focussing on Southeast Asia and East Asia.
