Coming soon: A new blog with a punch

The Library has been publishing this WordPress blog for years so why do we need a new one?

Good question. No, it’s not because we have nothing better to do. In fact, at this time before Semester One commences, Library staff are madly working on content for classes and tutorials, among many things.

Here are three good reasons why we are creating a new blog.

Our readers deserve a better blog.

A blog that packs meaty, relevant and engaging content offers students, staff and visitors better value for the time they spend reading it. We know everyone is time poor these days. By thinking about the type of content readers want and need, we got together a group of staff to work on the new concept.

We have experts who can share what they know.

Our teams of specialist librarians and learning skills advisers have subject expertise. They provide advice at the Research and Learning point in the libraries and run programs embedded within units in collaboration with faculties. With the new blog, they can reach more Monash students and staff through articles and commentary.

Other Library staff are also involved as contributors. They are specialists in a range of areas including electronic resources, resource discovery, user experience, to name a few.

We want to engage with the community.

A new blog gives us a fresh start on a journey to engage more meaningfully with our Monash community and the wider world of academia. We will have tools built in for sharing via social media as well as those that allow comments and feedback. It will be mobile friendly, too.

Watch out for our new blog in the coming days.
