Monash College City Campus – New floor Refurbished in City Location

Award-winning architects Jackson Clements Burrows recently completed the extension at Level 4, 222 Bourke Street, adding a third level to the bustling Monash College campus in Melbourne. The floor provides:

  • 21 classrooms
  • 8 collaborative learning spaces
  • 2 student kitchens
  • a student print room
  • a student auditorium

At Monash College, student spaces focus on providing the best possible study spaces that complement the vibrant city location in the heart of Melbourne.

222 Bourke Street is a dedicated learning and teaching space for Monash College students. It houses our Foundation Year programs and our English Language programs, which prepare students for their futures at Monash University.

‘Monash College fosters excellence in learning and teaching through a culture of innovation and collaboration,’ said Director of Business Environments and College architect, Phil Ward.

‘We know that our students learn best when these principles are in place and we design our learning environments to be modern, safe and supportive spaces so students can really flourish at our college.’

‘Our teachers ensure Monash College students gain confidence in independent learning and critical thinking – skills that are expected at Monash University – and our spaces reflect this. This new wing at Bourke Street provides students with the opportunity to undertake independent and collaborative learning. Around every corner you will find comfortable and colourful furniture, suitable for group work or independent study.’

‘eLearning is embedded into teaching practice and our learning space design. Wireless internet is available throughout the floor and each classroom has state-of-the-art technology. Our students are engaged in the class as their teacher easily switches from one activity to another.’

The floor officially opened in February.
