Singapore recognises Monash Juris Doctor as legal practice qualification

The Monash Law Faculty is pleased to announce that our Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) has been recognised by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE) as meeting the academic requirements for admission to practise in Singapore.

For some time Monash has been providing a quality legal education for Singaporean students through our Bachelor of Laws.  We are now delighted to also be able to offer the option of studying the Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) to allow students to take an alternative route to practicing law.

Students will now have more freedom to choose the course that best suits their needs.  The Monash Juris Doctor (JD) is specifically designed for graduates from non-law backgrounds and provides an opportunity to pursue a career change or follow an ambition to practise law.

Our JD is taught at the Monash University Law Chambers in the heart of Melbourne’s legal precinct.  Students gain the required skills and knowledge to prepare them for a legal career and can choose from an extensive range of elective unit options.  There are also opportunities to participate in a range of international programs and internships offered by Monash.
