Interview process change for Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine

AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE OCTOBER 2016 EDITION

There will be minor adjustments to the interview process for applicants who have applied for the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD), previously known as the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

Applicants who have attended an interview for the MBBS or MD who do not receive an offer, will not be permitted to attend an interview again if they reapply the following year.

Applicants will now only be required to attend one interview per course code and their interview score will be used to assess them if they apply in future years for that same course code. This applies to both the Direct Entry and Graduate Entry Programs at Monash. For instance, if an applicant attends an interview for the Direct Entry Medicine program (4531/M6011) and reapplies the following year, the original interview score will be used to assess any later applications. However, if the applicant later applies for the Graduate Entry Medicine program (4532/M6018) they will be permitted to attend an interview even if they have been interviewed for the direct entry program previously as they will be applying for a different course code.

This change will apply to applicants applying for entry in 2018. Students who have sat an interview this year for 2017 entry who reapply for 2018 entry will not be invited to attend an interview next year. The interview score from this year will be used instead.

Applicants who apply for Direct Entry must apply within 2 years of completing their year 12 or equivalent studies.
