{"id":1722,"date":"2013-08-05T16:57:47","date_gmt":"2013-08-05T05:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-blogs-monash-edu.pantheonsite.io\/rural-health\/?p=1722"},"modified":"2013-08-05T16:57:47","modified_gmt":"2013-08-05T05:57:47","slug":"east-gippsland-nurses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.monash.edu\/rural-health\/2013\/08\/05\/east-gippsland-nurses\/","title":{"rendered":"East Gippsland Nurses workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the ongoing Practice Nurse Education Group program, a General Practice Emergencies workshop was held at the Bairnsdale campus of East Gippsland Regional Medical School recently.<\/p>\n<p>Results from the workshop show that as well as being a valuable learning experience for the medical practice nurses, it is also a positive networking opportunity as many of the participants travel from rural and remote areas of Gippsland.<\/p>\n<p>Comments noted that the workshop was a positive reinforcement of existing knowledge, gaps in knowledge were covered and there was special mention of the introduction to SimMan as a learning tool.<\/p>\n<p>Specific topics for the latest workshop included Management of Chest Pain and Anaphylaxis, Management of Asthma and a Structured Approach to Psychiatric Emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops are designed to give medical practice nurses up to date training opportunities and have been held regularly over the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>Each workshop offers a number of topics and all participants help by providing feedback and evaluation.
