A total budget of AU$320,000 is available for three years.<br \/>\n<strong>Closing date: 23 August 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/963606\">Project grants &#8211; Kidney Health Australia<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These provide funding for broad-based, multidisciplinary and collaborative research projects in clinical, public-health or health-services research into the causes, prevention and treatment of disorders of the kidney or urinary tract. The grant provides AU$50,000 for a project that is expected to be completed within two years.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 31 August 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/1297680\">Research grants &#8211; John T Reid Charitable Trusts<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These are for projects that fall within one of the six main categories of aged and palliative care, arts and cultural heritage, community and social welfare, education and youth support, environment, and health facilities and medical research.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 04 September 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www\/researchprofessonal.com\/funding\/opportunity\/245638\"><em> <\/em><\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/245638\">Harkness fellowships for Australia, New Zealand and UK &#8211; Commonwealth Fund<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These enable mid-career professionals from the UK, Australia, and New Zealand to work with leading US experts to study a critical issue on the health policy agenda in both the US and their home country. Fellowships support periods of up to 12 months and include a scholarship worth US$119,000, and an additional family allowance.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 16 September 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/251845\">Tagged research grants &#8211; Australian Physiotherapy Association<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Grants support researchers working on new or established research projects on the science and practice of physiotherapy. Funding is worth up to AU$25,000.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 20 September 2013 (Forecast)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/249573\">Research grants &#8211; Financial Markets Foundation for Children<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Grants support projects that aim to improve the health, well-being and welfare of children in Australia. The foundation generally awards grants of between AU$50,000 and AU$80,000 for up to two years. This award is listed in the Australian Competitive Grants Register (ACGR) &#8211; research income Category 1.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 30 September 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www\/researchprofessonal.com\/funding\/opportunity\/1181902\"><em> <\/em><\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/1181902\">Clinical placement scholarships &#8211; Australian Department of Health and Ageing<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These support allied health and oral health students to undertake a clinical placement in a rural or remote Australian community during their degree. Scholarships are worth up to AU$11,000 for a maximum period of six weeks.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 08 October 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/254559\">George Healy cancer education award for study\/travel within Australia &#8211; Cancer Council Queensland<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These enable medical and paramedical professionals and educationalists resident in Queensland to undertake cancer education related study\/travel within Australia. The grants are worth a maximum of AU$10,000 and the maximum grant period is 12 months.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 15 October 2013\u00a0\u00a0 (Forecast)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/1247761\">Honours grants &#8211; National Stroke Foundation Australia<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These are for honours students undertaking a thesis in the area of stroke research. Grants will be made to students in the areas of allied health, nursing and basic science. The value of the grant is AU$3,000.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 17 October 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/251958\">Travel grants &#8211; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These enable Australian early-stage researchers or allied health and nursing professionals to travel to research institutions or scientific meetings for the purpose of furthering their expertise on type 1 diabetes. Grants are worth up to AU$2,000 for domestic travel or up to AU$4,000 for international travel.<strong><br \/>\nClosing date: 18 October 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.researchprofessional.com\/funding\/opportunity\/1206712\">Accelerator research grants &#8211; National Breast Cancer Foundation<\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>These enable research teams to further develop cancer research capacity and competitiveness in translational research.
