{"id":1782,"date":"2013-08-06T14:31:40","date_gmt":"2013-08-06T03:31:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-blogs-monash-edu.pantheonsite.io\/rural-health\/?p=1782"},"modified":"2013-08-06T14:31:40","modified_gmt":"2013-08-06T03:31:40","slug":"conference-increases-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.monash.edu\/rural-health\/2013\/08\/06\/conference-increases-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"International conference increases staff skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michelle Machado was recently funded by the School\u2019s conference support fund and Gippsland Medical School to attend the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle presented a poster on \u2018The learning of anatomy by medical students from different backgrounds in a graduate entry course.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She also took advantage of a day tour to the anatomy facility at the University of Dundee to observe new techniques of cadaveric preservation. The university is the first of its kind in the UK to use the \u201cThiel method\u2019 of preservation to achieve tissue fixation which aids in high quality dissections.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle\u2019s participation at the conference has enabled her to acquire the tools and resources needed to become a better medical educator.
