{"id":2632,"date":"2014-03-31T14:23:54","date_gmt":"2014-03-31T03:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-blogs-monash-edu.pantheonsite.io\/rural-health\/?p=2632"},"modified":"2014-03-31T15:29:16","modified_gmt":"2014-03-31T04:29:16","slug":"cultural-sensitivity-and-maternal-emergencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.monash.edu\/rural-health\/2014\/03\/31\/cultural-sensitivity-and-maternal-emergencies\/","title":{"rendered":"Cultural sensitivity and maternal emergencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the local Koorie community, ambulance officers and midwives from hospitals across Gippsland (including Sale and Traralgon) attended a two-day workshop in March in obstetrics emergencies within the cultural sensitivity framework.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Women\u2019s Hospital maternity emergency department in partnership with the Bairnsdale hospital delivered the workshop at the School of Rural Health \u2013 East Gippsland education centre in Bairnsdale. Coordinators included a Koorie liaison officer and Koorie\u00a0 actress who were able to expand on, discuss and clarify the cultural sensitivity relating to maternity emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>Around 40 participants took part in discussion panels on day one covering emergencies for neonates.
