{"id":3057,"date":"2014-05-28T15:06:21","date_gmt":"2014-05-28T04:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-blogs-monash-edu.pantheonsite.io\/rural-health\/?p=3057"},"modified":"2014-05-28T15:06:45","modified_gmt":"2014-05-28T04:06:45","slug":"simmom-trains-practitioners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.monash.edu\/rural-health\/2014\/05\/28\/simmom-trains-practitioners\/","title":{"rendered":"SimMom trains practitioners in Mildura"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_3058\" style=\"width: 440px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3058\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3058\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.monash.edu\/rural-health\/files\/2014\/05\/SimMom.jpg\" alt=\"SimMom\" width=\"430\" height=\"150\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3058\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SimMom in Mildura Base Hospital\u2019s birthing suite.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>SimMom arrived by wheelchair at the Mildura Base Hospital\u2019s birthing suites.<\/p>\n<p>This most advanced obstetric simulation equipment was provided by the School of Rural Health Mildura to assist with the hospital\u2019s second annual practical obstetric multi-professional training (PROMPT) session, held in April.<\/p>\n<p>SimMom provided the hospital\u2019s nurses, midwives, obstetricians and anaesthetists with in situ practical multi-professional training on the potential real life scenario of \u2018cardiac arrest following local anaesthetic toxicity\u2019 in a familiar working environment with real life equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen participants received the training with the Intensive Care Unit and Midwifery Department working together for a successful outcome in the scenario.<\/p>\n<p>The SimMom mannequin was purchased with funding from the Mallee Health Foundation and normally resides in her own purpose-built room at the School of Rural Health Mildura.
