{"id":645,"date":"2012-11-07T12:31:05","date_gmt":"2012-11-07T01:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-blogs-monash-edu.pantheonsite.io\/rural-health\/?p=645"},"modified":"2012-11-07T16:05:03","modified_gmt":"2012-11-07T05:05:03","slug":"ode-to-the-osces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.monash.edu\/rural-health\/2012\/11\/07\/ode-to-the-osces\/","title":{"rendered":"Ode to the OSCEs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>With the OSCEs just around the corner we thought it appropriate to publish this poem penned last year by Gillian Fallon from the Bendigo Regional Clinical School as an ode to the OSCEs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>All is quiet<br \/>\nThe air is tight<br \/>\nFingernails are there<br \/>\nTo bite<\/p>\n<p>Heads in hands<br \/>\nToes a-tapping<br \/>\nFurrowed brows<br \/>\nJaws firmly clenched<br \/>\nWaiting, waiting<br \/>\nFor the OSCE<br \/>\nTo commence.<\/p>\n<p>Bell has rung<br \/>\nMove to station<br \/>\nFrantic read<br \/>\nScribble notes<br \/>\nAnd seek<br \/>\nInspiration<\/p>\n<p>Again the bell<br \/>\nTake the plunge<br \/>\nOpen the door<br \/>\nYour consult<br \/>\nHas begun<\/p>\n<p>Minds a-scrambling<br \/>\nPulses racing<br \/>\nBreathe in deeply<br \/>\nYes, take a breath<br \/>\nRelax&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Slow the speech<br \/>\nTalk succinctly<br \/>\nListen to the patient<br \/>\nBe calm, keep cool.<\/p>\n<p>The bell peals out<br \/>\nThe consult ends<br \/>\nWhat\u2019s done is done<br \/>\nMove on.<\/p>\n<p>The OSCE\u2019s have<br \/>\nJust begun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the OSCEs just around the corner we thought it appropriate to publish this poem penned last year by Gillian Fallon from the Bendigo Regional Clinical School as an ode to the OSCEs.
