The club is a great opportunity to catch up with your peers, sharpen your critical review skills, and share your experiences\/work\/research.It is of particular interest to students, and teaching and academic staff. But we welcome everyone who is interested, particularly if you are not currently based in the School of Rural Health.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2013 dates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The dates for this year&#8217;s journal club meetings are:<\/p>\n<p>Wednesdays, 12 noon \u2013 1 pm<\/p>\n<p>13 March<br \/>\n10 April<br \/>\n8 May<br \/>\n12 June<br \/>\n10 July<br \/>\n14 August<br \/>\n11 September<br \/>\n9 October<br \/>\n13 November<\/p>\n<p>You can join each journal club:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in person in Bendigo in meeting room 3<\/li>\n<li>by videoconference\u00a0 (IP 130.194.213.113) or<\/li>\n<li>by teleconference (9903 5988) .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Volunteer to run a session<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each session is run by a different facilitator. This <a title=\"Journal Club\" href=\"http:\/\/www.med.monash.edu.au\/assets\/docs\/srh\/research\/srh-journal-club-outline-2013.pdf\">brief summary<\/a> outlines what journal club is about, what to consider when selecting a paper and provides a checklist for doing a critical review of the paper.<\/p>\n<p>Before the journal club, each presenter is expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>prepare a brief summary of the selected paper which highlights its interesting features and questions that the presenter would like participants to consider (this goes out 10-14 days before journal club)<\/li>\n<li>be able to describe and discuss the paper and review it in accordance with the critical review checklist<\/li>\n<li>facilitate discussion about how the research relates to our work in SRH.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to run a session <a title=\"Rachel Tham\" href=\"rachel.tham@monash.edu\">email Rachel Tham<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to school wide contributions to journal club to enrich our professional pursuits and get to know each others\u2019 work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Rural Health Journal Club is running again this year.
