Day is a national day of action that reminds us that every person and every conversation counts. Building a caring and suicide alert community is everybody&#8217;s business. We can all have bad days but when ba<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2061\" src=\"https:\/\/edit.blogs-monash-edu.salsa.hosting\/timeout-newsletter\/files\/2013\/08\/RUOK-Day-Banner1.JPG\" alt=\"RUOK-Day-Banner1\" width=\"347\" height=\"116\" \/>d days become months or years, some can lose hope.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On average, more than 2,300 Australians suicide each year (ABS 2012)<\/li>\n<li>An estimated 65,000 people attempt suicide each year (Lifeline)<\/li>\n<li>Suicide is the biggest killer of Australians aged 15 to 34 years (ABS 2012)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Worrying statistics, aren&#8217;t they? This is why Monash has a university-wide mental health strategy for our staff and students.
