1. Courageous Conversations about Race

We have the great fortune to have Mr Glenn Singleton visiting Australia from the USA. Glenn is a leading expert in racial awareness and co-author of the Courageous Conversations about Race (CCAR) Program which has been specifically adapted for the Australian Higher Education setting.

The Equity & Diversity Centre will be facilitating a CCAR program in 2014 in support of the Monash Anti-Racism Campaign pledge in partnership with the Australian Human Rights Commission recently announced by the Vice-Chancellor.

CCAR provides an opportunity for participants to explore race from multiple perspectives, develop language and confidence to engage in complex, challenging and meaningful conversations about race. In the program stereotyping and prejudice are explored through national and international perspectives and personal narratives about racial identity, power and privilege and their impacts on individuals lived experiences.

RSVP is essential as there are limited places. Please circulate this invitation among your work group/network – this event is open to all staff and students.
