Rural a big hit on Open Day
Monash Open Day 2014 was held on Sunday 3 August and School of Rural Health staff and students were out in force again in this year at Clayton providing information to prospective MBBS students about rural placement options across the Monash medical curriculum.
Enormous thanks go to SRH colleagues Kendall Livingstone, Michelle Moon, Sonya Steve, Cathy Haigh and Michelle Machado for giving up their Sunday to meet prospective students and answer questions regarding rural placement/training opportunities in the Monash medical course. We also had 12-15 rural student ambassadors that proudly shared their experiences with prospective students.
The glorious (although cold) Melbourne weather meant prospective students and families came out in droves and the SRH room was standing room only on many occasions.
Professor Shane Bullock, Director SRH Churchill presented at the three MBBS Admissions information sessions on the day, as did Juliet Baxter from Medicine Student Recruitment and A/Prof Chris Wright, Academic Director MBBS Clinical Programs.
All in all it was a very enjoyable and exhausting day. I thoroughly enjoyed the 1 hour foot spa which was waiting for me on my arrival home….
