Topic for Next Journal Club: Social engagement and older adults
Wellbeing in later life has been positively associated with social engagement. This study considers why some rural aged people are socially disengaged. Based on the findings of qualitative interviews and the author’s review of literature, implications for practice and policy are offered.
Questions for discussion:
· Has this study used an appropriate method for investigating constraints to social engagement for older adults?
· Is this study relevant to the social engagement of Australian rural aged people?
· Are there aspects of social engagement that could have been included in this study that would have added to the scope of this study?
