University bargaining process

How will the University address this round of Enterprise Bargaining?

The University recognises the importance of developing an enterprise agreement that responds to Monash’s unique needs and future development goals.  To achieve this the University intends to undertake negotiations for a new Agreement on the basis that bargaining outcomes:

  1. are consistent with the Monash Statement of Purpose in the University’s Strategic Plan
  2. support staff in developing a culture of innovation and creativity whilst preserving equitable and fair employment arrangements
  3. enable Monash University to maintain its position as a leader in flexible and responsive employment policies, such as its leading paid maternity leave policy.
  4. maintain and improve the capacity to support the career development of all staff and to facilitate achievement of their full potential.
  5. ensures the university has the capacity to respond to the challenges of growing international competition for students, staff and resources.
  6. ensures financially responsible outcomes for the university, that maintains the university’s capacity to fund and support teaching and research excellence

Throughout the bargaining process the University commits to:

  • bargain in good faith
  • undertake open and transparent communication with staff
  • acceptance of the role of the NTEU in representing academic and professional staff in enterprise bargaining.
