The Monash Law School Ambassadors Program 2010 presents Breakfast with Barristers:

Breakfast with Barristers is an opportunity for enthusiastic law students to meet with established professionals in law and have a one on one chat over an informal, casual setting. Students may ask questions regarding advocacy, areas of specialization within the law and anything regarding legal practice over a fully catered breakfast.
Come to get an idea of life in the legal profession and a fun day out. Places are strictly limited to 50 highly future-focused students.

2. Human Rights Careers Week 2010
The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law is proud to announce the 2010 human rights careers series. The aim of the series is to educate students about the many career pathways open to human rights lawyers and the career progression of human rights lawyers, as guidance for students planning their careers.
The first two seminars are being held in Conjunction with the Monash Law Students’ Society as part of the LSS’ Beyond The Corporate World Career Series. Each seminar will feature three speakers who will discuss their career path briefly and then provide an overview of the human rights careers available at the organisation they currently work for. Students will then have ample time to ask the speakers questions.

The final series of the week is being held in conjunction with the Australian Red Cross and is focused on those interested in international humanitarian law and international criminal law.

The 2010 Victorian election is scheduled for Saturday 27 November, 2010 and human rights will be a vital campaign issue. Please join us as representatives of the Liberal Party and the Greens answer questions from Damien Carrick about their parties’ policies that impact on human rights.
The Attorney-General Rob Hulls MP was invited to attend the forum but withdrew due to other commitments. The Government declined to nominate an alternative speaker to represent the Labor Party.
