1. Duke Summer School

Duke Law School is very proud to offer two summer institutes this year, one in Geneva, and one in Hong Kong. These institutes will be run from July 1-31, 2012. Leading faculty members from Duke, our host universities, and eminent law schools from several countries will teach the six course offerings at each institute. Institute participants come from as many as 20 countries and include law students, practicing lawyers, judges, prosecutors and academics. Both institutes are residential programs offering close interaction among students and faculty members.

The Duke-Geneva Institute in Transnational Law focuses to a great extent on public international law and transactional law. Among the 2012 offerings are courses in energy and the environment, regulation of NGOs, and international sports law. The Asia-America Institute in Transnational Law tends to offer classes with both Asian and Commercial emphasis. Courses in 2012 will include subjects such as globalization of the family, trade law, and international insolvency. Both institutes help to prepare non-American students for study in the U.S. by providing a course introducing important aspects of the U.S legal system.
