1. Asian Australian Lawyers – Celebration of the Appointment of His Honour Magistrate Raj Malhotra

His Honour Magistrate Raj Malhotra is the second person of Indian origin to be appointed a magistrate in Victoria.

Join His Honour next Wednesday 31 May as he speaks about his cultural experience growing up in Australia and tells stories from his extensive legal career, including as Crown Prosecutor for the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions in Western Australia and a member of the Adult Parole Board.

2. The Australia New Zealand Intervarsity Moot on Animal Law (ANIMAL)

Early Bird Registrations for the Australia New Zealand Intervarsity Moot on Animal Law (ANIMAL) are now open and run until Friday 9 June 2017.

This year, ANIMAL will be held at the Monash University Law Chambers (Melbourne City Campus) over the weekend of 16-17 September 2017.

As part of the ANIMAL program, there will be a range of keynote speakers and social events.

4. The Ideator

Calling all Monash students and academic and professional staff.

What does your future hold? In an age of exponential change, we need bright minds to come together and innovate new ways to live, work and prosper.

The GENERATOR invites you to the IDEATOR – a 27-hour ideas hack to Innovate the Future on 29-30 May 2017 at the Monash City Campus. You will work in diverse teams on one of three big themes:

  • FOOD – how do we better produce, consume and manage food?
  • ENERGY – how do we re-think our energy systems and sources?
  • JOBS – how will the jobs of the future look?

This event brings together creative and brilliant minds from across Monash with the potential to turn challenges into solutions for a better future.

Calling all creatives, techno-geeks, philosophers, scientists, life-savers, rule breakers and cheerleaders to take part in this challenge. A mix like this is what it takes to shape the future… so jump in!

5. Research Symposium on Reshaping Justice

Presented by the Law and Justice Foundation of NSW, this symposium Reshaping Justice: Client-centred service delivery, technology and innovation examines current issues facing the sector and how evidence-based research can be used to shape legal services that are responsive to client needs and interests.

The keynote speaker is leading civil justice authority Professor Dame Hazel Genn QC.
