1. $3000 grant to study in Jakarta – 2 weeks left to apply

Applications close soon for an opportunity to study and undertake a work placement in Indonesia. Grants of $3,000 are available for successful applicants.

Piloting in 2018, ACICIS’ Law Professional Practicum Program will be a six-week study program, undertaken in Jakarta, Indonesia, prior to the commencement of the Australian academic calendar year (January – February 2018).

The program, hosted by an ACICIS Indonesian Partner University (TBC) will consist of an initial two weeks of intensive Indonesian language instruction and English language lectures by local legal practitioners and experts in the field of law, followed by a four-week supervised practicum placement with a local or international legal firm, government authority or non-government organisation (NGO).

The program will be designed to cater for students with no existing Indonesian language skills. Candidates with existing language skills will, however, be welcome.

2. Bain & Company True North Scholarship for Women

Bain & Company Australia is delighted to invite female students in their penultimate year of undergraduate study to apply for the True North Scholarship for Women.

Applicants have the chance to win a $15,000 scholarship, a Bain mentor and the opportunity to attend a one-day workshop with Bain in Sydney.

3. Jury skills workshop – seeking volunteers

The Victorian Bar is looking for volunteers to play the role of a witness or a juror for the Jury skills workshop.

The Jury skills workshop is scheduled for Saturday 24 June, from 8.30am-5.00pm. Venue is the County Court, 250 William Street. Lunch will be provided.

You will be given a copy of the materials particularly a witness statement which summarises your evidence. You will need to be very familiar with the facts and be prepared to give your evidence and be cross examined or to play the role of a juror.

This is an opportunity to see some experienced advocates at work.

4. Scholarships to study at Tel Aviv University International

The Friends Association of Tel Aviv University in Victoria has established a fund to support Australian students from Victoria to follow their dream of studying in Israel.

This funding can be applied to cover any of Tel Aviv University’s International Programs, including the International LLM. The one-year (10 month) program gives you the option of specialising in Law & Technology, Global Governance and Human Rights, Business Law, or a general track. Classes begin in early September 2017.

Scholarship recipients are required to be from Victoria and be part of the fellow program during and after the program. You will join a diverse group of students in the vibrant sunny city of Tel Aviv. In 2016-2017 students from North and South America, West and East European countries, India, China, Ethiopia and Botswana have participated in the scholarship program.
