1. EcoPeace Middle East Internship 2017-18

Applications are now open for the EcoPeace Middle East Internship in Tel Aviv, Israel.

EcoPeace Middle East is a unique organisation that brings together Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli environmentalists. The primary objective is to promote cooperative efforts to protect a shared environmental heritage. In so doing, they seek to advance both sustainable regional development and the creation of necessary conditions for lasting peace in the region.

This three-month internship runs from November 2017 to February 2018.

Applications close Thursday 27 July 2017.

2. Accelerator Monash startup program

Applications for the Accelerator Program to grow the next generation of Monash startups through an intensive three-month program and $20,000 seed funding for each selected team (~5 teams) is open.

This program is run by The Generator – the centrally supported initiative for entrepreneurship at Monash and is open to all students, staff and alumni.

3. National Essay Competition

The 2017 National Essay Competition held by the Australian Legal Philosophy Students’ Association  (ALPSA) is closing soon.

This year’s topic is ‘Jurisprudential perspectives on the proposed bill of rights for Queensland’.

The ALPSA Essay Competition is a chance for Australian law students to showcase their ability to discuss the complexities of legal philosophy, in the context of an historical or controversial topic of choice.

In 2017, the judging panel will comprise the Honourable Justice Patrick Keane AC of the High Court of Australia, Professor Jeremy Waldron of New York University, and Professor Brian Bix of the University of Minnesota.

The competition prizes include cash prizes and the chance to be published in the University of Queensland Law Journal, the oldest university law journal in Australia.

Entries will close Monday 31 July 2017.

4. Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot & Jessup Moot 2017

Want to represent Monash at a national or international moot competition?

By enrolling in relevant semester two 6-point units, you could be selected for the Jessup Moot or the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

The Jessup Moot (LAW4806 (LLB) or LAW5056 (JD)) will take place Canberra in February 2018, with national rounds for finalist teams in Washington, DC.

The Vis Moot (LAW4807 (LLB) or LAW5055 (JD)) will take place in Vienna and Hong Kong in March/April 2018. Places are limited with five or six students to be selected for each moot team.

You may apply for a team even if you choose not to enrol in any of the above units. Applications are open to LLB and JD students in their final year. Submit your initial application by 5:00pm on Friday 28 July.
