1. Law Student Essay Awards
Applications are now open for the Law Student Essay Awards
The Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia is pleased to commemorate the life and contributions of Michael Taussig QC, one of the Section’s most outstanding members, with two Family Law Essay Awards in 2018. Current law students are encouraged to apply for one of these awards, the Law Student Essay Award.
One Award will be offered to the value of $1,500. To Apply for the Award, eligible candidates must submit an unpublished essay of no more than 3,000 words (including footnotes, appendices and tables) on a family law topic and its broader relevance to the community, by 20 August 2018.

3. Want to use your degree to change the world?
Applications are now open for the award-winning Green Steps program run by Monash Sustainable Development Institute. Green Steps offers innovative and practical sustainability training and consultancy projects for ambitious emerging leaders at Monash University.
As part of the program, students will gain the skills and knowledge to transform attitudes and drive change for a more just, sustainable and resilient world. The program includes:
- 4.5 days of interactive training: Develop skills in systems change, leadership, communication and behaviour change
- Consultancy experience: Work on a sustainability consultancy project
- Global networks: Join a global network of over 1200 change agents
4. Respect.Now.Always. survey
The university is aiming to increase the awareness of reporting and support options for students who may have experienced sexual assault and/or harassment.
To assist us evaluate the effectiveness of Monash University’s promotions of reporting and support options, and to have a better understanding of the level of awareness thereof, the university has developed a very short survey.
Responses will assist the university enhance our communications on the RNA campaign and the support and referral services available at Monash. Please note that your responses to this survey will not identify you.
5. Human Rights Awards
The Human Rights Awards is the pinnacle of human rights recognition in Australia. Each year we are proud to recognise the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations in promoting and protecting human rights and freedoms.
This year we have introduced a new Award category to recognise the contribution of local, state, territory and federal government bodies to the advancement and protection of human rights in Australia.
Nominations are now open and close Sunday 5 August.
