Exciting changes are afoot for the Monash Postgraduate Association!

We are pulling out all the stops to celebrate and raise awareness about these changes across all campuses during the week of 14-18 October, 2019.

You are invited to join us on Clayton campus on Wednesday 16 October from 12:00 – 2:00pm on the Lemon Scented Lawn.

There’ll be food, music, entertainment, activities, giveaways and prizes to be won. And most importantly, you’ll find out what the hullabaloo is all about.

2. National Commercial Law Seminar – Recent Developments in Misleading and Unconscionable Conduct

The expert panel will discuss recent appellate authorities on misleading or deceptive conduct and statutory unconscionable conduct, including ASIC v Kobelt (High Court) and ACCC v Medibank (Full Federal Court). This seminar will provide an insight into the presenters’ differing perspectives – academic, corporate lawyer and regulatory lawyer. 3. Are you hoping to be admitted to legal practice?

The Victorian Legal Admissions Board (VLABwill visit Monash Law Chambers (CBD) to speak about admission to the Supreme Court of Victoria, with a particular emphasis on key disclosure requirements and satisfying the Board that you are a fit and proper person to be admitted to the legal profession.

This is an important event for all law students and you should try to attend if you are able. The presentation will take 50 minutes, inclusive of question time.

The VLAB presenters will be The Hon. David Habersberger QC (VLAB Deputy Chairman) and Mrs Deborah Jones (VLAB CEO).

4. Industry Seminar Series with Baker McKenzie 

Monash Law’s Industry Seminar Series provides career pathway information and insights from various organisations across a broad range of sectors.

You are invited to this upcoming seminar featuring the law firm Baker McKenzie.

The seminar is your opportunity to hear directly from lawyers at Baker McKenzie about their own career journeys, as well as what a career at Baker McKenzie looks like. A recruitment consultant will also be present to discuss future career opportunities with the firm.
