Judy Embleton will be affectionately remembered in Churchill

Although she finished in December, it wasn’t until the first week of semester this year that SRH – Churchill staff got an opportunity to farewell Judy Embleton at a celebratory lunch and present her with a gift to acknowledge her time working with us.

Judy Embleton had been Regional Manager of the Gippsland Medical School and has now taken up a senior administrative position at the Gippsland campus of Federation University.

Judy was a foundation member of staff at the Gippsland Medical School. She was appointed as Manager of Student Services before the first student cohort arrived to assist with establishing the graduate entry course. When she arrived, even the building was still under construction. Judy brought with her an excellent knowledge of University administrative policies and procedures from her previous role with the School of Nursing at the Gippsland campus.

She was involved in every aspect of the medical school’s administration from admissions, enrolments/re-enrolments to student services. After Mike Lewenberg resigned, she was appointed School Manager. She managed her staff with great sensitivity to their needs and was a strong advocate for them whenever required.

For a number of our students making enquiries about the graduate entry course, she was the first person they spoke to. Her door was always open to students whenever they needed access to support services.

Judy has worked closely with MBBS and faculty staff at Clayton, Gippsland campus staff and School of Rural Health staff. Everyone regards her with great respect and affection and wishes her well in her new position.
