The North West Rural Medical Education Unit (MWRMEU) – Dr Natalie Radomski, Pam Harvey, Kylie Cocking and Michelle Moon – were finalists in two categories of the inaugural People in Health Awards 2014, supported by the Victorian Department of Health.

The 12 award categories recognised health services and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the education, training and development of Victoria’s health workforce. Each award category short-listed 5 or 6 finalists.

For the NWRMEU, these were:

  • Spotlight on County Victoria: Rural & Regional Educator Award – for the work that continues with the NWRMEU supporting clinical educators and providing professional learning opportunities.
  • Spotlight on Country Victoria: Rural & Regional Health Workforce Initiative Award – for the collaborative interprofessional educational project WoSSP (whole-of-system student placement) that has medical students from Monash and allied health students from La Trobe placed in Castlemaine and Maryborough health services.

The presentations were at a dinner in the Melbourne Museum hosted by Dr Sally Cockburn. Many other Monash groups were also represented.

Congratulations to the NWRMEU team for their innovation and hard work!
