1. Appointment of Tipstaff to The Chief Justice of New South Wales

Applications are invited for the position of Tipstaff to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the Honourable T F Bathurst.

Position description

Two positions are available. The first position involves being a Tipstaff from June/July 2011 until the end of December 2011. Applicants should be prepared to continue on the staff of the Chief Justice in the position of Research Director in 2012.

The second position involves being a Tipstaff for 2012. Applicants should be prepared to continue on the staff of the Chief Justice in the position of Research Director in 2013. The salaries in the 2010-2011 financial year were $54,576 for the Tipstaff position and $86,498 for the Research Director position. The salaries for the 2011-2012 financial year are yet to be determined.

The primary role of Tipstaff is assisting the Chief Justice with legal research. The Tipstaff also performs a range of court-related duties in Chambers, as well as spending a substantial amount of time in court. In the second year of appointment the tasks to be performed are almost entirely research, with less frequent attendance in court.

3. Court of Appeal — Supreme Court of Victoria Research Associate Positions

Final Year Law Students and Graduates

The Court of Appeal is seeking to appoint three Research Associates for 2012. The Research Associate positions will be for a period of 12 months. Applicants are requested to apply by email or in writing by sending a covering letter, curriculum vitae, academic results and a piece of legal research work. Applications close at 5.00pm on Friday 24 June, 2011.

4. Victoria Law Foundation – Legal Sector Internship Program for 2011-2012

Victoria Law Foundation is now taking applications for its Legal Sector Internship Program for 2011-2012 (summer and winter placements). The program is open to all Victorian law students (LLB or JD). Applications close at 5.00pm on Friday 29 July, 2011.
