ACJI Free Public Lecture: Future of the Courts, Presented by His Honour Judge Kevin Burke

Former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan once said that,


“What the people want is an America as good as its promise.”

That is what they want of their courts.


People want courts that are fair, efficient and effective.  And in a democratic society, they want a court system that is a strong (yet respectful) branch of government.

2. Commercial CPD Seminar ‘The Role of the Courts in Commercial Arbitration’


As the practice of domestic and international commercial arbitration in Australia continues to grow, so too does the prevalence of applications seeking the support or intervention of the courts in arbitration proceedings. Our panel will discuss the role of the courts in such applications, including in applications to enforce or set aside arbitral awards, as well as in applications designed to support arbitral processes such as applications for the issue of subpoenas.

3. Resolution Institute Event : Recent SoP Decisions in the Courts Lessons for Adjudication Practitioners


Several decisions in the last 12 months have significantly affected the management and consideration of adjudication applications by adjudicators and practitioners acting on behalf of participants.


Presented by Alastair Oxbrough, a panel of experienced practitioners comprising of Elias Giannakopoulos, Tom Heading, and Peter Wood, will explore these issues and provide opportunities for questions and discussion.
