Work rights consultations
Career Connect offers Monash students work rights consultations by appointment at both Clayton and Caulfield campuses. If you have concerns about your employment conditions, please make an appointment for a private discussion with our employment consultant.

To book an appointment, please log in to Career Gateway and select Work Rights Consultations in the Appointments menu. You can also read more about your work rights on the Career Connect website.

2. College of Law info session – Wednesday 10 August

The College of Law will be on campus with representatives to deliver a presentation to Law students about pathways to admission, how to get work experience, what Practical Legal Training is and why you should do it.

3. Employment opportunity – Australian Centre for Justice Innovation, Monash Law

The ACJI is seeking a current Monash Law student (LLB, JD, LLM or PhD) to provide administrative and research assistance for the Centre.

To apply, you must:

  • be available to work two days per week for at least the remainder of 2016, and
  • have completed at least two years of law studies.

Selection criteria

  • Strong academic record and research skills
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
  • Experience working in an administrative role
  • Demonstrated experience and/or interest in the work of ACJI

4. Menzies Memorial Scholarships

The Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Foundation offers two post-graduate scholarships in law: the Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Scholarship in Law and the Sir Ninian Stephen Menzies Scholarship in International Law. Each is tenable at a prestigious overseas university.

The foundation is looking for lawyers who wish to do postgraduate studies at an overseas university with the aim of developing their leadership, knowledge and skills for the benefit of others.

At the time of application, candidates must hold a law degree with an academic record in law that is equivalent to a First Class Honours Degree (H1), normally from an Australian university.

Both scholarships are valued at up to AUD$75,000 per year for one or two years.

Applications are now open and close on Wednesday 31 August 2016.

5. Student Futures – online tool to help prepare for your career

Careers Connect have launched a website for student careers, called Student Futures.

Student Futures is an online tool to help you prepare for your career.

It helps students find opportunities, track progress toward career-oriented goals, hones in on basic job preparation (CV, interviews, etc) and contains units on employability skills.
