1. Monash Law Ambassador Presents: TechUp Law Publication

Digital disruption – it is no question that this has become the latest buzz-word in the legal profession, but what is it and how can law students be well equipped to face the changing legal landscape?

Monash Law Ambassadors presents a student publication that specifically caters to law students’ understanding of digital technologies in the legal sector. It features articles written by legal professionals and current students, who discuss how technology is changing the legal profession and how law students can adapt to these changes.

2. Connecting with Law Short Film Competition

Now in its tenth year, the Connecting with Law Short Film Competition is open to all students currently enrolled in an Australian law school.

To enter, create a 2-5 minute film about Groundbreakers: people, cases or judgements that have changed the shape of Australian law.

Your film should educate, entertain and engage fellow law students and help them connect with law. Get your name known in law and win great prizes!

  • 1st Prize – $1,500
  • 2nd Prize – $500
  • 3rd Prize – $250

Competition closes Friday 25 August 2017.

3. Queen Mary Law Journal

The Queen Mary Law Journal is pleased to announce an open call for submissions for its Spring 2018 issue.

We are a peer reviewed, open access publication, which is available in print and online. Every year we publish work by undergraduates, postgraduates and legal practitioners from around the world.

While we accept articles addressing the study or practice of UK law, we especially welcome articles on the comparative analysis of UK law with other jurisdictions and articles highlighting the perplexities of the current law in general.

The deadline for submissions is 5 September 2017. Please find more information about submitting to the Spring issue.

4. Aurora Internship

The Aurora Project internship program places students and graduates with backgrounds in law, community development, archaeology and more at Indigenous sector organisations all around Australia.

Work in land rights, policy development, research and social justice.

Applications are open until Friday 25 August. Learn more and apply here.

5. Accelerator Monash startup program

Applications for the Accelerator Program to grow the next generation of Monash startups through an intensive three-month program and $20,000 seed funding for each selected team (~5 teams) is open.

This program is run by The Generator – the centrally supported initiative for entrepreneurship at Monash and is open to all students, staff and alumni.

6. Westpac Innovation Challenge 2017

The 2017 Westpac Innovation Challenge is now open to applications from start-ups, entrepreneurs and thought leaders with innovative solutions to transform Australia’s professional services sector, with a particular focus on accounting or legal practices.

The cash prize is worth $40,000.

This sector is a key contributor to the Australian economy; a major employer; and one that supports the growth and development of businesses across our economy. It’s also a very mature sector – and one that is ripe for technology-driven innovation.

Westpac’s challenge to entrepreneurs and innovators is to come up with the next big idea that will shape the future of this sector and support its growth.

7. Groza Learning Center Education Scholarship

The Groza Learning Center Education Scholarship was created to help students interested in higher education reach their goal of attending college or university.

Each year a theme will be chosen and students will have the chance to respond in a short essay.

This year’s theme is ‘Redemption‘.

One winner will be selected and receive $1000 towards higher education.
