1. Clerkship Masterclass – Friday November 17

Are you undertaking a clerkship or equivalent? Then don’t miss attending our Clerkship Masterclass, designed to build essential skills for your Clerkship.

The next Clerkship Masterclass will be held on Friday 17 November at the Monash Law Chambers in the City. Exact times will be confirmed closer to the date, but will be from 9.45am to 4.00pm approximately.

This session is designed to build essential skills for your Clerkship. Presented by lawyers from top Law Firms, expert staff from the Law Library and from other legal organisations. The Masterclass has been designed to deliver essential, practical skills relating to research, writing, preparing memos and tips to work effectively during the Clerkship.

The Masterclass is primarily aimed at students who will shortly be undertaking a clerkship or equivalent. A more detailed breakdown of the day will be provided once the program has been finalised. A light lunch will be provided.

2. Assistant Investigator – VCAA

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) seeks a capable, enthusiastic person to fill a casual vacancy as Assistant Investigator from 13 November 2017 to 2 February 2018.

This position will suit someone with a legal and/or investigations background, a person currently undertaking a relevant tertiary qualification such as law or a recent graduate of the Leo Cussen Centre for Law.

3. Climate for Change fellowship

Applications are open for the Climate for Change Fundraising and Communications Fellowship program.

The fellowship is in its third year and runs for four months.

4. Casual law clerk roles – apply now

Law Compliance is part of the boutique law firm Health Legal. Law Compliance provides a compliance service to a broad range of (profit and not for profit) organisations across Australia, including healthcare providers, aged care providers, welfare organisations, charities, education bodies from childcare to universities, and various government agencies.

Law Compliance are looking for a number of 3rd or 4th year law students to join the team as law clerks for a period of up to 3 to 6 months (likely hours offered 16 to 20 hours a week – with flexibility to accommodate course loads and an ability to increase hours during the upcoming semester break).

The role involves:

  • Reviewing and summarising Acts and Regulations
  • Improving the legal products currently provided to clients by re-writing modules according to a prescribed style guide; and
  • Summarising cases.

6. Judicial Clerk to the Chief Justice of New South Wales

The Chief Justice of New South Wales, The Hon. T. F. Bathurst AC, is seeking applicants for the position of Judicial Clerk (Tipstaff) in chambers for 2019.

The successful applicant is expected to continue on in 2020 as Research Director.

The Judicial Clerk assists in court and with legal research. The Research Director spends less time in court, is given more complex research tasks and assists in other public functions. The position is ideally suited to applicants intending to pursue advocacy, academia or legal policy work.
