One in three Australians are affected by muscle, bone and joint conditions, such as arthritis, osteoporosis, back & neck pain, fibromyalgia, gout and lupus. Yet these conditions receive very little attention.

These forums from MOVE are to help change this. Information gained will be used to guide future investment in muscle, bone and joint research, advocacy, education.

MOVE are trying to capture all age groups and particularly younger people with muscle, bone and joint conditions that often get left out..

Opportunity: Paid internship at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

There are two roles available:

See Through My Eyes is pleased to announce its first Scholarship Program for 2017. The STME scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to university students who are vision impaired or blind, who are working toward a sustainable and rewarding career in their chosen field.
Up to four scholarships of $2000 each will be awarded to undergraduate or postgraduate students. Scholarships are for one year only. Funds awarded can be spent on the following:

• Payment of university tuition fees
• Payment of student contribution fees
• Purchase of textbooks and other course materials
• Purchase of adaptive technology
• Living expenses associated with study

Eligibility

Applicant must be diagnosed with a permanent vision condition that cannot be corrected and meets at least one of the following:

• Visual acuity of 6/60 or less in at least one eye.
• Visual field of less than 20 degrees.
• Vision loss severely affecting daily life.

Applicant must be enrolled in a recognised Australian University in an undergraduate or postgraduate program and be continuing the course for at least one year from application.

Applicant must be registered with STME.

Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia.

The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary 2016 is now open for applications

In 2016, Vision Australia will award Further Education Bursaries to a select number of students who are blind or have low vision.

Each year, Vision Australia awards Further Education Bursaries to a select number of students who are blind or have low vision.

The bursaries provide adaptive technology to help the students fully participate and succeed in their chosen studies. Assistive technology can eliminate barriers to education and enhance access to information. It enables students to read course material, conduct research and improve their student life.

Our own research tells us that people from the blindness and low vision community who have a diploma, certificate or degree are more likely to be employed. Our bursary program is just one way in which we are levelling the playing field by supporting people to further their education and build a meaningful career.

Students of any age can apply for a Vision Australia Further Education Bursary.

Applicants must:

• Be or become, a client of Vision Australia
• Have a current (within the last 12 months) eye report on file with Vision Australia
• Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
• Be living or moving to Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, the Northern Territory or Tasmania
• Be enrolling to study at an institution in Victoria, ACT, NSW, Queensland, the Northern Territory or Tasmania
• Be enrolling to study in at least Certificate IV or higher accredited courses including undergraduate and postgraduate degrees (not a Foundation or Enabling course) at the start of the year or be already enrolled in such a course (preference may be given to those in the early stages of a course). The course must have a minimum 12 months remaining for those already enrolled.

This summer, Westpac is offering two paid internships for suitable candidates through the Stepping Into Program. The internships will commence in the summer university break and will be for a period of 10 weeks.

Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply for the Corporate and Institutional Banking Program, but you will have a strong interest in financial services with a strong analytical ability. Given CIB will often identify strategic opportunities for our clients, individuals with analytical, proactive and forward thinking ideas will fit well within our program and team culture.

By joining the Corporate and Institutional Banking Program you’ll learn more than just banking. To excel at your role you’ll need to develop a deep understating of your customers’ industry and business needs – expanding your knowledge and skill set beyond banking products and services alone. We aim to act as a trusted advisor to our customers, partnering with them across both their day to day and strategic aspects of their businesses.

The interns will be allocated to a particular team and will work alongside experienced analysts and relationship managers.

The type of work involved may include:

• Researching topical issues within a particular industry and contributing to research reports and credit submissions.
• Market and competitor research and analysis.
• Assessing existing and potential clients including full financial analysis in order to determine the appropriate credit risk rating and resultant lending appetite.
• Supporting the relationship team with ad hoc requests. Although allocated to a particular team, the program also provides interns with a broad overview of Corporate and Institutional banking.

During the 10 week program, interns will receive support from a recent graduate as well as a dedicated placement manager to ensure your learning experience is optimised.

• Currently studying a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree at university
• In their penultimate year of study.
• Australian citizens
• Registered with Disability Services at university OR provide proof of eligibility for Stepping Into with relevant medical documentation
